Part of the Luminaire Collection by Merchant and Mills, Piper is a beautiful gingham fabric made from a soft cotton and linen blend in a black and pale tan check. A versatile cloth that is a great alternative to linen. This cotton linen blend is yarn dyed, meaning the yarns are dyed before being woven. To give you a sense of scale the pattern repeat is 27mm.
It's a lovely summer weight cloth suitable for sewing dresses, tops, shirts and skirts. It would make a fabulous Martha Dress, a beautiful Edie Dress or Top and it's shown here made up in the Ellsworth Shirt.
Depending on your preference, our Scanfil organic cotton sewing thread in both Black and Beige work well with this check.

Merchant and Mills recommend that you machine wash this fabric at 30 degrees linen cycle with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble dry. Shake out and dry flat. Linen will always seize up after washing but as soon as you start to use/wear it the fibres relax again.
Never dry linen in direct sunlight as the colour can bleach and fade. Made using AZO-free dyes. Oeko-Tex certified.
