Merchant and Mills The TN34 Parka Sewing Pattern. Designed by Merchant and Mills, the TN34 sewing pattern TN34 is a relaxed and versatile interpretation of the classic fishtail parka. Lined or unlined with a hood or ribbing, it can work for all seasons.

** Please note that this is a new parka sewing pattern which has been re-drafted by Merchant and Mills for their unisex size range.

Skill level Advanced.

This is a multi-size paper sewing pattern, including sizes XS – XXL. Seam allowances are included in the pattern at 1.5 cm, unless otherwise stated. The pattern comes carefully packaged in an envelope together with step-by-step sewing instructions to complete your project.

Suitable fabrics Tweed, Woollens, Cotton Drill, Cotton Canvas, Dry Oilskin, Oilskin (lined version only), Waterproofed Cottons and Linens.

Fabric requirements∙ please see last image for fabric requirements.

For the lining Mer chant and Mills recommend using their barrier lining if you are making the oilskin version. Other lining options: brushed cotton, cotton poplin. The lining choice has to be substantial enough to accommodate buttonholes - this garment was designed for oilskin so the lining prevents oilskin touching the clothing.

For the ribbing neckline, Merchant and Mills used rib that stretches by half again, ie. 10cm piece stretches to 15cm. You can also use pre-made ribs found here.

Trims needed • matching thread / 6 (7 for the hooded version) x 20mm buttons / 4.4 m drawstring cord for the version with the hood / 1.2m interfacing (not for oilskin)
