About The Draper's Daughter
Hello, I’m Karen — and welcome to The Draper’s Daughter.
I founded The Draper’s Daughter in 2014 with a simple aim: to create a carefully curated space for dressmakers who value quality, thoughtful design, and fabrics that are a pleasure to sew and wear. Based in Chichester, West Sussex, we specialise in modern dressmaking fabrics and sewing patterns chosen with garment-making firmly in mind.

I’ve worked in fashion all my life, spending 15 years as a buyer for lifestyle brand Fat Face on the South Coast. That experience shaped how I approach The Draper’s Daughter today... with an emphasis on curation, wearability, and choosing products that genuinely earn their place. Everything we stock is researched thoroughly, and much of it is exactly what I’d choose to sew and make myself.
Our collections focus on natural fibres, beautiful texture, and contemporary design, bringing together fabrics and sewing patterns that work seamlessly together. You’ll find a considered edit of designers and brands we trust, selected for their quality, clear instructions, and timeless appeal rather than fleeting trends.
Where possible, we choose responsibly produced fabrics and support designers and manufacturers who share our values. Sustainability is not a buzzword for us, but an ongoing consideration... from organic fibres to thoughtful sourcing decisions. We curate fabrics, sewing patterns, haberdashery, and gifts that work together to support garment-making from start to finish.
The Draper’s Daughter has been supporting modern makers for over a decade, and we’re proud to be a trusted resource for sewists looking to create clothes they’ll genuinely love to wear.
