Merchant and Mills Gingham Organic Cotton Linen Fabric. Damson is part of the Merchant & Mills Winter Classics collection, a beautiful blend of 88% organic cotton and 12% linen. At 155–160gsm, this fabric has a slightly heavier weight than the Luminaire range while still offering the soft, natural feel you’d expect from their linens.
This yarn-dyed gingham features a subtle mix of aubergine purple and chalky blue, creating a timeless, versatile check. With checks measuring approximately 13mm x 13mm, it’s an ideal choice for dressmaking projects such as skirts, dresses, tops and shirts, and also works wonderfully for lightweight curtains and home décor.
As with many handcrafted Indian textiles, slight irregularities in the weave may occur. These natural variations add character and are not considered faults.
For best results, Merchant & Mills recommend washing at 30–40°C with a handful of table salt for the first few washes to help fix the dye.

Merchant and Mills recommend that you machine wash this fabric at 30 degrees linen cycle with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble dry. Shake out and dry flat. Linen will always seize up after washing but as soon as you start to use/wear it the fibres relax again.
Never dry linen in direct sunlight as the colour can bleach and fade. Made using AZO-free dyes. Oeko-Tex certified.
