Optional bow details at the sleeves add a subtle decorative element, while the loose, flowing form makes it a comfortable and versatile piece to wear throughout the year.

With custom sizing based on your own measurements and a construction approach using simple seams, this pattern offers an accessible yet design-led introduction to zero waste sewing.

      • Exploring zero waste sewing techniques with a modern, wearable result
      • Creating versatile garments that can be adapted for different seasons

      Pattern details:

      • PDF sewing pattern using zero waste cutting (no traditional pattern pieces)
      • Custom sizing based on your own body measurements
      • Dress and top variations included
      • Loose, gathered silhouette for comfort and movement

Suggested fabrics:  This pattern works best in lightweight to mid-weight woven fabrics with a fluid drape such as:

      • Linen and linen blends
      • Lightweight cottons and cotton gauze
      • Viscose and rayon blends
      • Silk

Softer fabrics will enhance the volume and movement of the silhouette, while slightly more structured linens will create a more defined, architectural shape.

       Sewing tips:

      • Take care when following the cutting layout to ensure the zero waste design works as intended

      What is Zero Waste Sewing?

Zero waste pattern cutting is a method of designing garments so the full piece of fabric is used, eliminating or significantly reducing offcuts.

Instead of cutting around traditional pattern pieces, shapes are drawn directly onto the fabric... creating an efficient and sustainable layout.

A more mindful way of sewing, with less waste and more intention behind every garment.

Sewing inspiration: Try the top version in a lightweight cotton for an easy everyday piece, or sew the dress in linen for a more structured look. Add the optional bow details for a playful finish or keep it minimal for a cleaner silhouette.

Why we recommend this pattern: The Daydream Dress and Top is a lovely combination of simplicity and versatility. With its modern neckline, adjustable fit and soft volume, it’s a pattern you can return to again and again while exploring a more mindful approach to sewing.
